Dr. Mba graduated from medical school in Nigeria. He initially completed an internal medicine residency training program in the United Kingdom before relocating to the USA. His UK training cumulated in his obtaining the MRCP (UK) designation.
He completed a second medicine residency program here at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Mba served as a Chief Medicine Resident from 2002 to 2003. He was the last Chief Resident to be on call in the old legendary Cook County Hospital, on December 11th 2002.
He joined Stroger Hospital as a hospitalist in 2003. As a hospitalist, Dr. Mba was a two time recipient of the Osler Award for Teaching of Internal Medicine. He is also a three time recipient of the Division of Hospital Medicine’s Cooker Award for inpatient medicine teaching and team leadership.
In 2008 Dr. Mba became Firm Chief for Firm A and Associate Program Director for the department of Medicine. He was appointed Associate Chair of Medicine for Faculty Development in 2013. He also fosters compassionate patient care delivery by moderating Schwartz Rounds held monthly at Stroger Hospital since September 2011.
